Urban Forest Locations and Patch Characteristics Regulate PM2.5 Mitigation Capacity

Atmospheric pollution caused by fine particulate matter (PM2.5) seriously damages human health. Urban forests have the ecological function of purifying atmosphere, which can effectively reduce ambient PM2.5 concentration. This paper analyzed ability different forest types to mitigate and explored effects quality morphological parameters on concentration patch level. The results concluded that Landscape Relaxation Forest (LF) was significantly lower than Roadside (RF) Affiliated (AF) due environmental their location. effective distance LF reduction 80 m, higher RF AF. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), indicated growth status, most parameter for improving urban mitigation ability. decreased linearly with increase in NDVI. area perimeter patches had a significant nonlinear negative correlation In addition, more irregular shape patch, forest.
